HISTORY
map The Whitecourt Trailblazers Snowmobile Club (with 34 families) was formed during the 1980-81 winter season and were the recipients of the ASA snowmobile “club of the year” during this first year of operation. The Trailblazers also won this designation again in 1983. In 1986 and 1987 the Trailblazers won the Snowmobile Club of the year in Canada, as determined by Ski-Doo New Generation. As a result of a lot of work by the Trailblazers, Whitecourt was named the “Snowmobile Capital of Alberta” in 1984 by Travel Alberta. The Trailblazers have been and continue to be a very active club in the community, hosting and taking part in many events. These include rally's, provincial jamborees (3), races & drags, winter festivals, charity rides and donating to other charities, as well as being instrumental in forming the ATV and snowmobile bylaws. The Trailblazers along with the Fox Creek Northland Snow-Goers and the Swan Hills SnowGoers were the founding clubs of the Golden Triangle Trail system.
