Community Services works with and provides support to the Whitecourt and District Community Services Advisory Board. The Board provides information to Town Council on Parks and Recreation and Family and Community Support issues.
The Community Service Board meets the first Tuesday of every month, 7:00 P.M., in the Town Council Chambers. The public is welcome to attend.

Community Services also provides assistance and consultation
to the public and community groups - regarding facility / open space development, grants, fund raising, and issues affecting Parks and Recreation or FCSS. Employees in this department are eager to answer all general inquiries and act as an Information Referral Service to provide information for a wide variety of community programs and services.
FAMILY AND COMMUNITY SUPPORT SERVICES (FCSS)
FCSS offers a broad range of programs and services designed to:
promote the social development of children and families,
Strengthen family life by developing skills in people to function more effectively within their own environment
Enhance the quality of life of the elderly
Promote, encourage, and support volunteer work in the community
Inform the public of available services
Specific programs include family violence counseling, suicide intervention, parenting workshops, awareness programs, etc.
Offers a wide variety of services and programs for teens and youth in general.
FCSS grant program providing financial assistance for the development of social programs
Operation of the interagency food bank.
