1. I have a group of kids looking to book a school gym for a sports night. How would we go about it, and would there be a cost?

map If your group is a non-profit organization then you can book gym time or classroom time in the schools’ at no cost. Our Department has a joint-use agreement between the schools and ourselves which means the schools have access to the Town facilities (arena, pool or racquetball courts) at no cost, and we in turn can book community user groups in the schools at no cost. To book a school gym or classroom you need to contact Community Services at 778-6610.

2. We are a local slowpitch team looking to book a weekend for a tournament. Who would we contact and what would be the cost?

In order to book a tournament at Graham Acres you need to contact Community Services at 778-6610. We can book your weekend as long as it is available. The cost for tournament play is $210.00 dollars per day plus a damage deposit of $250.00. If the concession building is required, then it is another damage deposit of $250.00, and a separate fee of $10/day to cover electrical use.

3. How do I register my child(ren) for swimming lessons?

Registrations for lessons are taken over the phone if you are using Visa or Mastercard or in person if paying by cheque or cash. You must register between Registration Day and the Registration Deadline of the lesson you are registering for. Payment is required upon registration. Watch for the Community Services Brochure, which comes out every second month as an addition to the Whitecourt Star, for current swim and lesson schedules.

4. How do I arrange a birthday party at the pool?

Birthday party rentals are available Saturday’s and Sunday’s from Noon to 1:00 PM or from 5:00 to 6:00 PM. You can choose the main pool for $46.00 per hour, the whirlpool for $35.00/hour or both pools for a cost of $58.00 for the hour. Payment for party rentals is required 3 days in advance.

5. Does the pool offer water fitness classes?

Aquacize classes are offered on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from 9:00 to 10:00 AM and Tuesday evenings from 8:30 to 9:30 PM.

6. How and when can you register for Community Service programs?

The Community Services brochure comes out in the Whitecourt Star every second month. It is also available to pickup at Community Services. Registrations will begin on the following dates:

July/August 2003 June 25
September/October 2003 August 20
November/December 2003 October 29

Registrations are taken in person at Community Services, payable by cash, cheque, interac, VISA or Mastercard. Registrations will be accepted over the telephone only by using a VISA or Mastercard.

Registrations are taken on a first come, first served basis and only paid registrations will be added to the registration list. If the program needs to be cancelled due a lack of registrations, you will be notified by phone and a full refund will be issued.

7. I am interested in instructing a community program. How would I go about doing this?

We are always interested in new programs to offer to our community. For any new instructors, we require a current resume with references.

The best time of the year would be determined to offer this new program and it would be advertised in the appropriate Community Service brochure. A registration deadline would be set, typically one week prior to the program. The minimum number of participants would need to be reached in order for the program to go ahead.

8. I would like to advertise my non-profit or for profit organization/club in the Community Services brochure. What are the deadlines to have information in and what is the cost?

We typically advertise those organizations or clubs that are offer recreation or leisure programs/events. Advertisement space is available only on a first come, first served basis. You can request space by calling Deb at 778-6610. The deadline for advertisement information is as follows:
