Parks and Recreation

Mission Statement of the Department:

“To assist the community in identifying, promoting, and providing programs, services, facilities, and open space that will support the creation of a healthy,
dynamic community”.

The Department operates all recreation facilities within the Town, including the Twin Arenas, RCMP Century Swimming Pool, Graham Acres Recreation Area, Rotary Park, neighbourhood parks, trails and open space, and outdoor skating rinks.

map We also offer a diverse range of recreation and cultural programs, advertised through a Department Brochure, which is published and distributed through the Whitecourt Star every second month. Fitness classes, health and well-being programs, children and adult craft, and various sport classes are a few examples of activities offered. Family Day and Canada Day events are two large-scale yearly events offered through Community Services.

The Department also plays a large role in assisting local groups in meeting their leisure needs, providing funding and grant information, and working with the local Community Services Advisory Board in providing recommendations to the Whitecourt Town Council.
