Family and Community Support Services (FCSS)

Mission Statement of the Department:

“To assist the community in identifying, promoting, and providing programs,
services, facilities, and open space that will support the creation of a healthy, dynamic community”.

map FCSS is a Provincial / Municipal Partnership with the Province supplying 80% of funding for services; and the Town of Whitecourt providing 20%. There are several goals of the program:
a. Promote and encourage voluntarism;
b. Prevent family and social breakdown by providing services before a crisis situation occurs;
c. Encourage cooperation amongst agencies.
d. Encourage and assist people and families to act upon their own needs.

A variety of services / programs are offered through FCSS, including: Seniors Services, assistance with teen parenting, In-School Mentoring, Youth Development and Leadership, Volunteer Registry, Family Violence Initiatives, KidSport, and a variety of social and family programming.
